I recently had the opportunity to swap family sessions with the talented Catherine Acevedo of Acevedo Weddings. Besides their beautifully coordinating fall-inspired outfits the first thing I noticed about Catherine and her sweet family were their warm loving energy. They had such a genuine connection and love between them that think I was able to capture in the photos below. The way they interacted with their bubbly charismatic daughter had me smiling through out the whole session!

Let's be real, working with 2-year-olds during a family photoshoot can be a lively adventure! Instead of making them sit still I try to embrace their boundless energy! Here are a few of my tricks for working with toddlers.

Let them PLAY: Toddlers thrive on exploration. Encourage them to run around, chase bubbles, or play with their favorite toys. Their candid joy makes for heartwarming shots!

RUN & JUMP: Don't fight the wiggles; embrace them! Capture their giggles mid-air or as they take off on an adventure. Action shots bring out their lively personalities.

Get Creative with Surroundings: Use your environment to create games. Let them explore a field, jump off a bench, or play hide and seek behind a tree.

Make them your little helper: Engage them by giving them a "job." They can hold a reflector, play with a colorful prop, or even "help" adjust the camera settings. Their involvement makes them feel like stars!

What I love about 2 and 3-year-olds is when they smile, it's GENUINE! Their laughter and grins are pure and infectious. Catch those unscripted, heartwarming moments that truly reflect their beautiful little souls.

Embrace the chaos, cherish the spontaneity, and you'll capture the essence of your little ones in the most precious way!

As a newborn photographer, I get to capture the magical moments of a family's life, especially those first few weeks after a baby's arrival. In this blog post, I'll take you through a recent newborn photography session from my perspective.

Getting Ready

Before the session, it's all about preparation. Safety is crucial, and creating a comfy atmosphere for the baby and parents is a must. I talk to the parents beforehand to know their preferences and ideas for the shoot, which helps me tailor the session to their liking.

The Session Day

On the big day, I arrive early to set up my gear and create a warm, soothing environment. Proper lighting and temperature are key to keep the baby relaxed.

Meeting the Family

Meeting the family is always heartwarming. I see the pure joy and love as parents hold their little one. New parents are excited but also tired. My job is to make them feel at ease, answering their questions and assuring them that their baby is in good hands.

Capturing Precious Moments

The main focus is capturing those precious baby moments. I use various props and backgrounds to create a variety of images. Patience is crucial, as babies have their own schedule.

Safety Always

Throughout the session, safety is the top priority. Newborns are delicate, and I handle them with utmost care.

Editing and Delivering

After the session, I select or I give the family the choice to select the best images from an unedited gallery. I then edit them to as close to perfection as I can achieve. This includes skin touch ups and enhancing colors and lighting.

Being a newborn photographer is a beautiful profession filled with love, patience, and artistry. Each session is a chance to capture fleeting moments and create cherished memories. Through my lens, I celebrate the beauty of life, one tiny subject at a time. Newborn photography is a way to preserve the magic of those early days for families to cherish forever.
